WHICH FILLING DO I USE BEST?

In principle, a pouf can be filled with everything. Each type of filling has its characteristics. The choice of filling is personal and depends on your preferences.
We share our 4 best ways and their properties:

1. WOOL & STRAW (TRADITIONAL WAY)

   Natural wool is very expensive nowadays. But if you can get it easily or if you have a sheep yourself, we recommend filling the pouf in the traditional way. Fill the pouf with wool and possibly supplemented with straw in the heart of the pouf. Fill the pouf well so that the pouf is firmly rounded.
   Properties:

   • Heavy
   • Form-retaining
   • Solid
   • Breathable and air permeable
   • Ecological
   • Even filling gives the pouf its nice round shape

2. POLYETHER FLAKES (FOAM RUBBER)

   We fill our filled poufs with polyether flakes (250L). This is a shredded residual material of custom-cut blocks of polyether foam.
   Properties:

   • Light
   • Resilient
   • Solid
   • Breathable and air permeable
   • Even filling gives the pouf its nice round shape

3. TEXTILE SURPLUSES

   The Moroccans today fill their footstool with (clean) textile surpluses, such as clothes, sheets, bath linen etc that are no longer usable. Fill the pouf as evenly as possible, paying particular attention to the sides, so that a nice round shape is obtained.

4. PILLOWS, CUSHION FILLING

   The footstool can be filled with pillows, sleeping bags, duvets. Fill the pouf as evenly as possible, paying particular attention to the sides, so that a nice round shape is obtained.
   Properties:

   • Semi light
   • Semi-resilient
   • Less even filling

TIME TO FILL IT UP

First of all, we want to point out the mistake that is often made when filling the ottoman: People usually do not fill their poufs enough! The secret of a nicely shaped, sturdy pouf is to fill up the pouf enough.
Fill your pouf step by step:

1. There is a large zipper opening at the bottom of the pouf. Fill the footstool little by little, starting at the bottom and the sides. Then fill in the center of the ottoman. Make sure that the pouf is evenly filled.
2. Do not be afraid to fill the pouf properly. The hand sewn seams of the pouf are very strong as well as the zipper, so you don't have to worry about tearing the ottoman.
3. Zip up the ottoman, press it well, sit on it, roll it into shape, and refill again. Repeat this several times until the pouf has a nice tight, round shape and does not sag too much when sitting.
